WWE SmackDown sharply raises national ratings after Vince McMahon’s retirement announcement


WWE SmackDown on Friday night, with the show airing just hours after Vince McMahon announced his retirement. Average 2.17 million viewers Rapidly in national ratings, up 9.8 percent from last week’s overnight viewership.

This is the fastest national viewership for SmackDown since June 17, the day Vince McMahon appeared on television following the announcement that he was stepping down from his WWE President and CEO roles, while the Board of Directors approved his alleged Malpractice was investigated.

Last night’s SmackDown garnered a 0.6 rating in the demo of 18-49 at the fast nationals. It topped network TV as a whole and was twice the next highest rated program.
