WWE NXT Level Up Results: Duke Hudson vs Hank Walker

Thea Hale (w/ Andre Chase & Bodhi Hayward) beat Brooklyn Barlow

The rest of the Chase You players were in the ring along with Thea Hale. This was Barlow’s fourth match at Level Up.

He traded some headlock and pinning combos. The commentators, Sudu Shah and Nigel McGuinness, continued to ensure that we knew Barlow was a formerly strong competitor.

Barlow showed his strength for most of the match. Ola turned into a side slam around an abdominal stretch. This caused the hail to hit a standing moon and hail for victory.

– Kelly Kincaid was backstage with Hank Walker after the match. He discussed Walker’s upcoming main event match with Duke Hudson. Walker left Hudson until he said that Hudson was not arrogant and looked down on people. Walker quotes his grandfather, “If you stay prepared, you don’t need to be ready.”

Bryson Montana defeated Ru Fango

Montana and Fang were each looking for their first win as part of the NXT roster. In the promo art of the match, Montana looked cool wearing a shield-type vest. He came to the ring in a suit and gloves and without a shirt. I think he felt he needed to prepare for this edition of Level Up.

The fang started to heat up with some side headlocks. The crowd began chanting “Mortal Kombat”. Fang hits a body slam and a spinning heel kick for a two count.

Montana turned the heat back on Fang’s chest with a few stomps and a few holds. Fang rose back and tried to strike, but Montana hit a variation of the spinebuster called the Sky High to take the win.

Duke Hudson defeated Hank Walker

Walker made his way to the ring in the most basic country boy clothing ever. McGuinness made a really funny joke about Walker’s appearance, comparing the match to seeing Bad Bunny or Logan Paul as we watched Seth Rogen in the ring.

They exchanged shoulder tackles to start the match. Walker eventually went for a body slam, but Hudson proved too heavy. Walker didn’t give up, throwing Hudson into the corner and hitting a sidewalk slam for a two count.

Hudson gets the heat with a missed elbow drop by Walker. He put the shoes on the walker and hit a big elbow for another two count.

Hudson started using Farm Boy’s hair to throw him around the ring. Walker responded by pulling Hudson’s hair and driving him into the top turnbuckle. Walker hit a cool looking body slam, where he pulled Hudson off the ground and sent him face-first onto the mat. Walker tried to take the win with a vertical suplex, but Hudson landed on his feet and hit a big boot for the win.

final thoughts —

This was a good episode of NXT Level Up. The opener was solid. Thea Hale and Chase Yu continued their push as a faction, while Brooklyn Barlow got some much-needed TV time.

The second matchup was mostly skippable, with Hank Walker facing off against his biggest rival, Duke Hudson, in the main event. Walker was over with the crowd, but he came out in the most basic outfit and had the most basic gait. This was only his second match on TV, so he would have more to come. Duke Hudson is also great at being just a heel.
