Several WWE Women’s Division veterans have gained weight after a former star suggested bringing back the Diva Championship.
on a recent appearance on Grapsody PodcastCurrent Impact Wrestling star Maria Kanellis shared a hot take about the WWE Divas Championship.
“I think they should bring back the butterfly belt. I do. I know people will disagree with me and that’s okay. That’s why wrestling is great because when you watch wrestling, you don’t see everyone looking exactly the same.”
“I still consider myself a diva because it gave me the first chance in my career. I think some of those segments were funny and cute. We need to have a little humor in this. There is a place for everyone,”
This attracted general online anger from Wrestling Twitter, although then several other prominent players in the history of WWE’s women’s division entered the chat.
Trish Stratus is responding succinctly, simply writing:
mickey james Add:
“Personally. I love the OG Women’s Championship. Nothing is prettier. The women who held that championship were legends, icons, history makers, game changers. Roof breakers, today’s road pavers. This one . Not so much.”
While Mickey was responding to the literal design of the belt, it’s hard to know whether Trish was referencing the title or the whole concept.
Maria Kanellis continues to appear in Impact Wrestling in addition to setting up her own wrestling promotion, Women’s Wrestling Army.
