An AEW referee has achieved a special milestone and a potential new role.

AEW referees have received a divisive backlash online on the heels of the Dynamite Grand Slam event, where three consecutive matches distracted officials involved in the finish.

However, there is good news for those who wear stripes in All Elite Wrestling.

AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter to congratulate senior referee Paul Turner for refereeing his 100th main event with the company.

Khan also said that as a senior official, Turner manages the referee and the AEW Dynamite Grand Slam has been asked to tighten things up after some bouts have ended.

he tweeted,

congratulations @RefTurnerAEW On refereeing the 100 AEW Main Events!

As the senior official, Paul manages our referees, who do a great job, but missed some illegalities in the first few matches last night

I know we can count on Paul, I can tell him from yesterday on #AEWRampage. but to make it stronger,

This teases a new authority role for Paul Turner outside of the “senior officer” title. It remains to be seen what consequences this has for long-term referees.
