Last night, fans of All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling were hooked on the first co-promoted show between the two companies, featuring exclusive, never-before-seen match-ups between the two companies. Unfortunately, however, this was not the case for the women’s division, as none of the Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling Company stars attended the show.
AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa successfully defended her championship against fellow AEW star Tony Storm, pulling her out of the cross-promotional favor. Although the TJPW stars didn’t attend AEW x NJPW Forbidden Doors last night, Rosa is headed to Tokyo to take on Miyu Yamashita at the “Summer Sun Princess” event in July.
Since winning the Women’s Championship at “AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick’s Day Slam” in March, Rosa has successfully defended her belt four times. As far as what’s ahead for the Mexican superstar, Rosa had this to say Media scandal after the Forbidden Door show.
“Like I said before, I would love to be a traveling champion,” Rosa said. “As you guys know, it has been announced that I am going to Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling in July. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but if there is a chance to defend the championship or someone else has come from somewhere, I think Tony will do it.
Speaking of Rosa, several stars are looking to get a piece of the AEW Women’s Champion, as AAA star Taya Valkyrie took out the champion during TripleMania XXX: Tijuana. In regards to accepting or rejecting that challenge from the former WWE star, Rosa said she would “take it from anyone, anytime, anywhere”.
Taking that point even further, Rosa publicly stated that she would love to see former WWE Superstar and Divas Champion Page in AEW when WWE decided not to renew her contract. Page last competed in 2017, when he suffered an injury and retired a year later on “WWE SmackDown”.
