As a budget-friendly graphics card, the performance of Intel Arc A770 and A750 probably won’t win any awards, especially if you’re considering playing older PC games that don’t use the DirectX 12 API. Fortunately, a mod of sorts called ‘DXVK’ can help improve frame rates on the Alchemist GPU significantly, and even benefit other pixel pushers.
DXVK is a translation layer that can be used to run the best PC games of yesteryear with Vulkan, rather than DirectX 9, 10 or 11. This is especially important for the Intel Arc A770 and A750, as neither of them support the legacy support. APIs, leading to less than desired performance.
YouTuber RandomGaminginHD shows just how much DXVK can boost fps using the Intel Arc A750, with medium frame rates like Grand Theft Auto 4 jumping from 57 fps to a whopping 123 fps. Minimum frame rates are boosted in the same way, as seen with the Witcher 3 with a 1% low rising from 24 fps to 58 fps.
While these performance improvements are of course welcome, RandomGaminginHD rightly warns against using DXVK with online multiplayer games, as the DLL files can activate anti-cheat software and land you an avoidable ban.
