There is a new development in the Major League Wrestling (MLW) vs. WWE lawsuit case.
as reported by pwinsiderThe hearing scheduled for September 29 has been annulled by the US District Court, California Northern District (San Jose).
During the hearing, the court was scheduled to hear arguments on whether the case should be dismissed or not.
Judge Edward J. Davila will still decide whether the case should be dismissed, without hearing any arguments. Nothing can be said yet on when the decision will be taken.
The initial lawsuit, filed by MLW in January, alleged that WWE attempted to undermine competition within the industry and interfered with MLW’s negotiations with potential partners and business projects, which allegedly included “a major streaming deal that would have been transformative for the company”.
In a previous filing to dismiss the case, WWE actually cited AEW’s success as an argument that “there is a market with aggressive players looking for market share and breakthroughs”, and thus WWE. does not have an aggressive monopoly of the industry to the extent that MLW’s claims suggested.
We will keep you informed of this matter as it progresses.
