Sammy Guevara had the wrestling world gossip when he posted cryptic messages on Twitter last week. Many wondered if he was hinting at leaving AEW for WWE. Sammy explained the meaning behind his words in his latest vlog.
Thanks to those who paid attention. Things come to an end. More in the Vlog tomorrow…

Sammy spoke on the topic starting with 9:56 in: “Is this the end? (what’s next?) – Vlog 387.”
Sammy mixed real life feelings with his character’s recent promos and also added a dash of fiery insults to rival Eddie Kingston to hype their match rampage this week.
Sammy Guevara: Okay. Here we go. Last Wednesday I lost.
I lost my chance to become world champion, which I have said from the very beginning of Dynamite. Before Dynamite even started, I said (clipped to clip from Road to AEW on TNT – Episode 2): “Besides, I have always said that it is my destiny to become world champion here. Mark my words. Sammy Guevara is going to be world champion.” And unfortunately that wasn’t in it for a while. I thought it was going to happen. I had all these ideas. I was like, you know what? It’s time for my merch to be sold in the arenas. It it’s time for my face to be on all the posters and on all the trucks And this, that and the other I had all these ideas and how things would change if I won this world title.
The things you want and the things you need are not always the same. And the universe has a plan for all of us. And unfortunately that plan was not for me to become the world champion. I also got pretty frustrated because I try to make a moment every time I’m there, but somewhere along the way I just got this crazy amount of hate. I don’t really understand what I did, but I see. People want me to leave. People say they are tired of me. Blah blah blah blah.
So while I’m in this negative mindset, I think maybe I should leave. Maybe this is it for me. You know, I had a nice ride and maybe I should leave to make sure you appreciate me. Because that’s what you do. You know, you all did that with Cody (Rhodes). When he was in AEW, you all hated him. And then he went to WWE, and you love him now. So I thought in my mind, man. I’m like, you know what? Maybe this is it for me. And I’m not even talking about, you know, going elsewhere. I’m just talking about maybe I just need to take a break in general.
But I took a deep breath and I thought there was still some tread left on the tires. There is still gasoline in the tank. And so we continue. We’re not giving up. We’ll just start over, rebuild, and eventually we’ll get to that damn title. Eventually the gas runs out and the tires lose all profile and we need new tires. Hopefully we’ll get to where we’re trying to get before all that happens.
Just know that I appreciate the people who support me. You who watch these vlogs bring Sammy characters, all these things. I appreciate you. You are part of the vlog crew. You mean a lot to me. And for the people who are against me, I have something for you. It’s a… Fuck! (Reached for an object to reveal the middle finger.)
Thank you so much guys for all the support. We’re going to start over and rebuild and get where we are. But first we have to end things. We have to end things.
Starting Friday, we’ll put an end to this Eddie Kingston thing. I took this match because I’m not afraid of that guy. (Sammy rattled off raw expletives not fit for printing here. Kingston wants to talk all this shit, Sammy will see him Friday.)
But yeah, like I said. Thanks to the people who appreciate me. Thanks to the people who support me. I didn’t mean to scare you this week. It’s just, you know, life is hard sometimes. And you just have to remember to continue. Keep going and growing. That’s all we’re going to do. And I continue to take you on the ride with me through these vlogs.
The idea of taking a break is an understandable feeling from Sammy. I never understood the initial reaction to Sammy during his babyface run. It can be hard not to take that personally if it’s not part of a designed story. With his current heat leaning toward lusty cuddling with wife Tay Melo, that makes sense as a way to embrace the angry fan reaction that was on the way. Sammy is not wrong when it comes to struggling fans who change their point of view on a whim, as with Cody Rhodes. In the words of Mayor Quimby from The Simpsons, we are nothing but a bunch of fickle mummy heads. Give us hell, Sammy!
Do you think Sammy Guevara’s explanation makes sense? Will you ride the train to see Sammy become an AEW World Champion one day?
