Eddie Kingston was suspended from AEW for two weeks last month due to a backstage feud with Sammy Guevara. The suspension resulted in the cancellation of the Kingston and Guevara AEW All Out match.
Both men were part of the Zero Hour pre-show, although Kingston defeated NJPW star Tomohiro Ishii, while Guevara and Tai Melo defeated Ortiz and Ruby Soho.
With his suspension behind, the match finally took place in tonight’s Rampage special episode of the AEW Grand Slam, and the incident was referenced before the match.
Guevara came out with a microphone, saying he felt sorry for Kingston, before calling him a rough piece of ‘s**t’, the same quote that led to an altercation between the two.
There was more controversy at the end of tonight’s match, when Kingston nailed Guevara with three spinning backfists before putting Guevara to sleep with a dragon sleeper.
However, Kingston would not let go of the hold, leaving AEW security running into the ring to take Kingston out. When Kingston nevertheless refused, the decision was reversed and Guevara was declared the winner of the match.
