Upcoming updates to Destiny 2 crafting mean Bungie will soon allow players to craft weapons from the Deep Stone Crypt raid, according to the latest installment of the game developer’s This Week at Bungie (TWAB) series. The update of the popular FPS game will take place at the beginning of next season, which starts on December 6.

“Each encounter has a chance to drop a Deepsight version of a raid weapon, and players can purchase one per week from the last chest after defeating Taniks. When Deep Stone Crypt is the featured raid of the week, there is no limit to encounter drops! This means you can do a full heist and hunt for Deepsight drops multiple times each encounter,” explains the Bungie blog post, attributed to community manager dmg04.

The message shares that it will also offer new perk pools to weapons they didn’t have before, citing the following examples:

  • Heritage (Slug Shotgun): Reconstruction + Focused Fury
  • Progeny (hand cannon): Voltshot + Rampage
  • Trustee (Scout Rifle): Quick Hit + Light Bulb

The blog post says the game will also add a new Origin Trait called Bray Inheritance, likely a reference to the work of scientist Clovis Bray, an antagonist common in the Beyond Light expansion, and the Braytech weapon family.

The blog post also references some broader changes to the game’s overall design system. Starting with the Lightfall expansion, weapons that cannot be crafted will not fall with Deepsight. Bungie will also introduce alternate ways to earn Deepsight, give players the option to have some autonomy over which weapons to use to craft, and give Lightfall raid Adept weapons access to enhanced perks. That doesn’t mean Adept weapons will be available for full, free form, though.

dmg04 clarified via a tweet that the current Red-rimmed Deep Stone Crypt weapons will not carry over to next season, so players will have to unlock new Deep Stone Crypt red-rimmed weapons after the start of the next season.

Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion is set to release on February 28, 2023, so Guardians will still have to work under the current system for the next season and a half.
