AEW star Chris Statlander talks about using sign language on television.

Stadtlander is gaining momentum on AEW TV in an ongoing feud with TBS Champion Jade Cargill and The Baddies.

In addition to his various talents inside the squared circle, the AEW star also has skills beyond the ring.

speak with jaichelle nicoleChris Statlander discusses why she loves using sign language on television.

He said:

“I just wanted to do something different. I don’t really know anyone who is deaf. I have no reason to know ASL. I know that once I started doing it, some people question were raising questions like ‘Do I have any reason to use this in my life?’ And I don’t. I thought it was something useful to learn.”

Stadtlander continued to explain why she believed it to be a less plausible language, saying:

“It’s kind of underappreciated language, so I thought ‘Why not? Try something different.’ It seems to be getting a really good response, which I’m very happy with. I’m not proficient in sign language, but I can do a basic sentence, like ‘Do you need water? Are you hungry? My name’ It’s Chris. I can do all those things.”

The AEW star further revealed how he has used sign language throughout his career, even before getting into promotion.

“I originally got the idea to do sign language because on the Indies, sometimes if I was the bad guy, I’d do an F and a U,” Stettlander said. “So I’d say a ‘FU’ during my entrance, and nobody knew what that meant, but I did and it was funny to me. So sometimes I’d do that, and that’s kind of signify me The idea came to find a way to incorporate the language a little more.

“It’s so different, especially if a deaf person is watching TV and instead of reading subtitles all the time, sees something like this, you can really focus on the action for a moment. I think it’s that ( underserved community). They don’t communicate with the deaf community, as often.”

Chris Stadtlander has been linked with Athena since coming to All Elite Wrestling in a rivalry against The Baddies.
