Due to injury, Thunder Rosa is officially out of TripleMania XXX: Mexico City.
In the TripleMania event, Rosa was scheduled to challenge Taya Valkyrie for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship. Lucha Libre AAA posted a video on Friday night saying Camille will face the Valkyrie for the title in Mexico City instead.
Camille cut a promo by saying that she heard that the Valkyrie were looking for someone new to face at Triplemania because “apparently your previous opponent was hurt.” Camille said that she is here to answer that call.
Kamil has been the NWA World Women’s Champion for over a year. She retained that title against the Valkyrie one night at NWA 74 this August.
Last month on AEW Dynamite, Rosa announced that she would not be able to compete at All Out due to injury. Rosa still holds the AEW Women’s World Championship, but Tony Storm is crowned interim champion while Rosa is out of action. Storm was to challenge Rosa for the title at All Out. Instead he defeated Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and Jamie Hayter in a four-way match at pay-per-view to become the interim champion.
Rosa told Busted Open Radio that she expects to be out of action for a few months due to a back injury. She also responded to those who have claimed that she is pretending to be hurt.
Rosa said, “It is not fake, not work. If I can do the work of the king, then I can do the work of the king.”
“I’m sorry, guys. I want to walk at 40, I want to have kids… I have a right to say, ‘No, I can’t walk, I can’t do this.’ I don’t want to have surgery (and be out for a long time).”
TripleMania: Mexico City is taking place on Saturday, October 15. This is the last of three TripleMania PPVs this year, celebrating the 30th edition of the event.
