Backstage reaction to the drop in viewership for the September 12 edition of WWE Raw has now surfaced.

Monday’s show attracted a total of 1.709 million viewers with 0.44 in the 18-49 demographic. Not only was this episode the first show in three weeks to attract less than 2 million viewers, the episode also attracted the lowest viewership of the ‘Triple H era’ of WWE Raw ever.

To fighter selection (subscription required), some within WWE were expecting viewership to be less than the 1.709 million that the show eventually landed.

Significantly, WWE Raw was against the return of Monday Night Football. The Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks game drew a total of 19.8 million viewers, and a combined 5.57 million in the 18–49 demos across ESPN, ABC, and ESPN 2.

Dakota Kai and IYO Sky defeated Raquel Rodriguez and Aaliyah to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship on Raw. Edge also faced Dominic Mysterio in singles action, before interfering in the bout before Judgment Day.

After the match, the group attacked Edge’s leg with a chair, possibly to push him away from the TV.
