fighter selection Last night’s “SmackDown” Fireball segment revealed some backstage news with Carrion Cross, Scarlett, and Drew McIntyre.

As mentioned, during the 9/24 show, Scarlett got between McIntyre and her husband, Cross, and hit McIntyre with a fireball. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the Fireball segment didn’t go as planned and Cross and McIntyre had to improvise the scene. Fightful was also told that the Flash Paper wasn’t ready for live TV and that it didn’t work the moment it needed to “catch someone’s face big enough to sell them.”

The report also noted that the Props team didn’t bring in the Flash paper, but it was the team of employees that took the company Jet to “SmackDown” that had the paper.

After the fireball, McIntyre delivered a spine buster to Cross, and then Scarlett struck a low blow to McIntyre. Cross locked in a Cross jacket and, before letting McIntyre go, he said that he would see him at Extreme Rules, and “this is what he wanted.” McIntyre and Cross are set to face each other in a strap match at Extreme Rules.

Cross and McIntyre’s feud began right after Cross and Scarlett made a surprise return on the August 5 edition of “SmackDown”. At the end of the episode, Cross attacked McIntyre, repeatedly banging his head against the steel ring steps.

WWE’s premium live event, Extreme Rules, is scheduled for October 8 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
