AEW Dynamite’s numbers drop for biggest TV show of the year

The ratings and ratings are in for last night’s Grand Slam episode (September 21) of AEW Dynamite.

Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 1,039,000 viewers for a 0.35 rating point in the 18-49-year-old demographic. Dynamite finished first in the demo rating on cable for the night. This is the fifth consecutive week in which Dynamite eclipsed the somewhat random round number of one million viewers.

Given last week’s 1.175 million viewers and the demo rating of 0.39, many fans thought Dynamite Grand Slam could reach 1.2 million viewers and get the demo rating back to 0.40. This is demonstrably AEW Dynamite‘s most hyped show of the year, after all. With that expectation in mind, these numbers are disappointing.

As for a standalone episode, it’s a good thing to finish in first place for AEW with these numbers. But now that the Grand Slam is over and the numbers are down from last week, it makes sense to think DynamiteThe series of at least a million viewers threatens to end next week.

Here’s a breakdown of the number of AEW viewers and ratings in the 18-49 demo over the past year:
